A brief ceremony honoring police officers from the Metropolitan Police Department (predecessor to the NYPD) and Officers of the NYPD on May 8, 2010 at 1100 hrs. This event/ceremony will take place at the Police Gardens aka Police Arlington site in Cypress Hills Cemetery. _http://www.cypresshillscemetery.org/chcmap.pdf_ (http://www.cypresshillscemetery.org/chcmap.pdf) Police Gardens just left upper area from section 18 The Police Arlington at Cypress Hills Cemetery is the final resting place of (6) six Officers who Died in the Line Of Duty and the remains of Non-LOD Officers of both the Metropolitan Police and the NYPD. In addition the site is the final resting place of two Officers who were killed in action while in the United States Armed Services, Ptl. Henry Haywood was killed inaction at San Juan Hill in the Spanish American War while assigned to Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders, and Ptl. John Endress who was killed in Action in France during WWI while serving with the US Army 106th M.G.Bn,AEF. All active and retired MOS and civilian MOS of the NYPD and other Departments along with family and friends and the public are welcome and encouraged go to come to this ceremony.
