SD Man Pleads Guilty In Vacuum Cleaner Attack Published: August 23, 2011, 6:12 AMSIOUX FALLS, SD - A South Dakota man accused of attacking his ex-girlfriend with a vacuum cleaner has pleaded guilty to a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon.
U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says 31-year-old Marques High Elk of Eagle Butte faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine when he's sentenced on Nov. 15.
High Elk was accused of hitting his ex-girlfriend in the head with the vacuum cleaner during an alcohol-fueled argument in Eagle Butte on April 16. Authorities say the woman suffered serious injuries, including cuts and bruises on her head and a broken thumb.
