The place looks awesome! Hope we have something arranged soon. I'd love to be
there out by the country at night to view the sky.

Subject: RE: [Brandon and Area Astronomical Society] Re: [Brandon and
AreaAstronomical Society] Possible Observing site I checked out the site last
night, and will work for our needs. I would like it to be a site that members
can go to at anytime to observe, take astrophotos, watch meteor showers, member
outings, etc. We could even look at possibly having our own little star party
one weekend. You can send an e-mail on the list to see if anyone else is
interested in heading out as well. It will be a no white light zone,
especially if others are out there. If it’s just yourself, won’t be an issue.
Gord is going to talk to the landowner on Weds about getting the grass cut
and where in that piece of land we can use. If we can get more in the middle
and away from that road would be good. We will also have to work out maintence
on the site. After the initial cut, if we had a mower we could do it
ourselves. The initial cut will need something more than a push mower. Gord
can let us know of any other requirements. I would expect the requirement to
keep the site clean of garbage, and maybe a heads up to the landowner that you
will be there. We will need to setup something for a restroom. We may have to
start off with something rudimentary and constructed ourselves. I’ve seen in
Walmart and Canadian Tire portable toilets suitable for camping. Then build
some sort of privacy shelter. Just an example.

To rent a portable toilet from C&C Rentals would be $75 per month. There are
mosquitoes and ticks there, but once the grass is cut short the ticks shouldn’t
be an issue. We can look into putting in wooden stakes with glow in the dark
paint to outline the observing area and the path in. The attached photo is a
panoramic of the site. Where my car is, that’s north. Trees are west, trail
is south. Any other ideas? Trevor Sent from Mail for Windows 10

To: baas@xxxxxxxxxxxxx One of Gord’s co-workers has land south-east of Chater.
It’s on Curries Landing Road. It looks promising, we will have to discuss
with the landowner what we plan to do. I would like to find a day when a group
of us can head out there and check it out and come up with possible plans
