Hi, i had a maybe crazy idea?! What if Aztec would use a openSource 3d engine like OGRE [http://ogre.sourceforge.net/] or NEON [http://neoengine.sourceforge.net/] as engine for the viewports, etc? why? well ... i.e. 3ds max has an openGL driver which is more performant than the d3d driver, but the later has the ability to use multitexturing (lightmaps etc) in the viewport. But the d3d driver for max really sux (with nividia cards - with ati it's vice versa) so i won't use it! Good viewport performance and other realtime features are a plus - and not only realtime graphics creator would benefit from it. So each time the engine developers progress, it would be a progress for aztec, too. Atzec would have all the object types of the engine and it's features, plus the others needed for non-realtime issues - like for the renderer. But, you would of course haven then to deal with 2 projects to assure that the engine has what aztec needs ... not to mention to really change aztec to a even deeper degree. dom
