We have a few items coming up that I wanted to share: 1. This Friday night at 7 p.m., our "Adults' Night Out" speaker is Dr. Todd Bostwick. He is Phoenix's City Archeologist, and will be speaking on how astronomy was used by prehistoric people to create calendars and define sacred space. He will focus on recent archaeoastronomy research from the Sonoran Desert and Colorado Plateau regions. His talk is free and open to all adults. It will be followed at 8:15 p.m. by the planetarium show, "Harvest Nights," which is free to members and $5 for non-members ($4 for seniors). 2. This Sunday the Houston Museum of Natural Science will have their "Discovery Dome" set up in our lobby; it's a portable planetarium will a "full-dome video system". It is free with admission to the Arizona Science Center. 3. We're holding a public observing session on October 27th to celebrate the total lunar eclipse. Come on down; everyone is welcome to participate. We will have the center of Heritage Square and the east-facing stairs outside of the Arizona Science Center for telescopes. The event is free to everyone. 4. By next week, I hope to have details finalized on a sneak preview of our new planetarium show, "Galaxies." I'll send out another email letting you know exactly when it will be; we would like to invite both the professional and amateur astronomy community to attend. * * * * * * * * * * * Christine Shupla Planetarium Director Arizona Science Center (602) 716-2078 shuplac@xxxxxxxxxxxxx -- See message header for info on list archives or unsubscribing, and please send personal replies to the author, not the list.
