Jenn and I viewed the transit from three sites, beginning in the backyard for ingress. I tried too much with camera and scope swapping, and missed out on seeing the aureole, which Jenn was able to see in the white-light view. We went to Tempe Library for the next hour and a half to do sidewalk astronomy. The last site was behind South Mountain, where I had scouted out the perfect saguaro for the sun and Venus to set behind at an azimuth of 295 degrees. http://www.pbase.com/polakis/venustransit2012 Tom -- See message header for info on list archives or unsubscribing, and please send personal replies to the author, not the list.
