The latest SOHO image from 9:32 a.m. today shows Comet Lovejoy with a tail that's about 1 1/2 degrees long. Folks who are good at estimating magnitudes from this sort of image are putting it at around 1st magnitude. When the magnitude goes below zero, we will expect to see some horizontal CCD blooming spikes emanating from the head of the comet. http://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/data/realtime/c3/1024/latest.html Tom -- See message header for info on list archives or unsubscribing, and please send personal replies to the author, not the list.
