I've noticed that some of the best atmospheric phenomena occur near the boundary of the "dry-wet line." Take a look at a water vapor image to see how abruptly the monsoon moisture ends along a north-south line about 100 miles west of Phoenix. Food for thought for those who want to observe this weekend.
