Hello,
I have put together a list of potential targets for imaging the next new
moon. This was made specifically for my C-11, both primary focus and
Hyperstar along with my full-frame camera, so your field of view will
surely be different. If you haven't discovered the website
www.dso-browser.com, you should check it out, on the website you can find
out what an object will look like for your particular setup.
I try to make/update this document every month for the next new moon. If
you find this useful let me know, and I'll inform you of when I create the
next one.
The list is saved as a PDF and can be downloaded here
<http://www.artcentrics.com/02_Astronomy/AstrophotographyTargets/ProspectiveObjects_11_Nov.pdf>.
Provided below are conditions and assumptions to note on the document.
-
Grayed targets have already been imaged.
-
Times associated with *Transi*t, and* Imaging Window*:
-
All times are approximate generally within 15minutes of the estimated
event.
-
All calculations are based on Chandler as the location. If you live
in the Phoenix Metro area this should be fine.
-
The date used for the calculations are on the night of the new moon
for the month. These numbers are a pretty good approximation
for the week
before and after the new moon.
-
*Imaging Window Times* are determine with the following assumptions:
-
Imaging window cannot start until astronomical twilight and must stop
at astronomical dawn.
-
Ideal alt of 45degrees above the Eastern Horizon to the Meridian
(Since I live in the East valley, and west has light pollution).
-
Targets low on the Southern Horizon may have an imaging window that
starts with them lower then the ideal 45 degrees. Generally
I'll take the
transit, and subtract 2hrs as the starting window.
-
Much of the data used to create this document comes from the following
