15480 Empire Rd. Benson, AZ 85602 hm ph: 520-586-2244 Once again, another great shot, Barnie! I looked at M3 (along with a few other things, two recent SNe and a nova in Scorpius) last night (June 8/9) with my 25-in just as the moon was setting. I saw the galaxy NGC 5263 readily, but the other two galaxies in your image weren't detected. I had some skyglow and moonglow interfering. Despite the smell of smoke recently, the skies have been remarkably calm and clear, except for a couple days. While it's been cool (mid 60's) in the evenings lately, it actually felt "cold" here last night, in the 50's! Has the smoke been affecting the telescopes in Rancho Hidalgo? The first image is a wide shot where you can see NGC 5263, the small spiral galaxy on the left. The second image is a close up view of the cluster. http://www.azstarman.net/M3.htm <http://www.azstarman.net/M3_CROP.htm> http://www.azstarman.net/M3_CROP.htm Thanks, Bernard -- See message header for info on list archives or unsubscribing, and please send personal replies to the author, not the list. -- See message header for info on list archives or unsubscribing, and please send personal replies to the author, not the list. -- See message header for info on list archives or unsubscribing, and please send personal replies to the author, not the list.
