Yes, I observed the disappearance in my 14". "I observed the Moon-Venus occultation from my N. Phoenix home through high clouds. Venus was much brighter than the moon and larger than expected. Times were: First contact with bright limb of Venus 10:34:00 MST Second contact 10:34:30 MST It seems that my dark blue 14" dob is a near perfect solar absorber. The tube became too hot to touch in the bright sun. So I covered the sunward side with aluminum foil, which gave it a sort of "Twilight Zone" look and cooled it down!"
