I guess I should trust my observing skills a bit more....How narrow a path would something like that project? I would think that it's rare enough to see one, but for 2 observers in such different locations might be even rarer. Of course, looking in the right area at the right time may have a lot to do with it.... If anyone cares to do some math about it, my coordinates are below...
