Oops. Sensitive keys.

The cluster is known as Tombaugh 4.

Thanks to Mr. Harshaw for bird-dogging that one.

After nagging Dick Harshaw off and on for most of the morning, he's
actually come up with a catalog name/number for the little critter seen
in Jon's image:

Why don't you specify the location in terms of offsets from one of the
corners then? For example, if the image is 10 units wide and 7 tall,
the
cluster is 4 above and 3 left of the lower right corner, etc?

Uh, yes, but it still doesn't identify the very small, apparently more
distant cluster I referred to below.

Thanks Dick!

Archinal's book on Open Clusters states that IC 1805 is properly the
star
cluster, not the nebula. It is also known as Melotte 15. Luginbuhl and
Skiff concur in their "Observing Handbook." But Sky Catalogue 2000.0
Vol II
lists IC 1805 as both the cluster AND as a nebula. The original IC
catalog
of 1895 shows it to be a Barnard discovery and lists it as "Cl, co, eL
neby
extends f". The NGCIC.org web page lists it as a cluster with
nebulosity
and gives the following aliases for the cluster: Cr 26, LBN 654, Lund
81,
Sh2-190, OCL-352. Does that help?

Wow! Incredible depth, Jon. Nice work. I see a number of clusters in
the
field. For example, what's the catalog number of the dim, tight cluster
just
to the right of the brightest portion of the nebula. This is just one
of
those images that keeps the eye busy for while.

Thanks for sharing!

Hi Everyone,

This is the photo I took while at Vekol the last weekend of September.
This
object is also commonly referred to as the Heart Nebula. The photo
shows an
area of the sky approximately 3 degrees wide.
