Matter o' fact.... Jay Reynolds Freeman in California has done the Herschel 400 with an 80 mm scope (his "famous" Refractor Red, after the refurb paint job). Now, Freeman is an experienced observer, with many scopes, including a C-14 ("Harvey") and an Astrophysics 10 inch Mak, so he knoweth of wherefore he speaks.... See his interesting essays on observing and other philosophical topics (in the natural scientist sense) on his web pages.... He is an old friend of Gerry Rattley, and an active member of the SJAA in San Jose, CA.
