Thanks to all that showed up at the Sentinel-Schwaar Star Gaze. Everyone there contributed to its success and we had such great skies to enjoy. As others have indicated, Ikeya-Zhang was the star of the show early on. In the 14.5inch (370mm) at 140X it was easy to see the two tails that continued for another field or so. Two entries high on my observing list were galaxies in Canis Major, yes Canis Major, home to Sirius. First was the colliding galaxies NGC2207/IC2163. NGC2207 appeared round and fainter whereas IC2163 was brighter and elongated. These two were positioned in an easterly direction and had two stars imbedded. One near the central part if CI2163 and the other about where the two were in contact. The other was a group of galaxies including NGCs 2292, 2293 and 2295. There were others in the area but they weren't observed. Such a nice treat - galaxies in the middle of winter Milky Way! The other star of the weekend was the port-a-john. Again thanks to Jack Jones for making such thoughtful arrangements. aj saguaroastro.org SteveB0513@xxxxxxx wrote: > Thank you SAC for a great observing weekend at Sentinel. > > Steve Bell > EVAC > -- This message is from the AZ-Observing mailing list.
