All, I got my first look-see of the comet last night at 10:15 PM with 11x80 binos from my backyard in north Phoenix. It was during a sucker hole but I found it real fast. It looked much bigger than I expected. The coma appeared irregular with jagged edges, with bipolar spikes and a slight brightening inside offset from the middle. Perhaps the spikes are where the two tails come out from the coma. The coma looked about 12-15 arc minutes in size. No tails seen and it looked grayish. Well, what do you expect in the middle of the great Aurora Phoenicia during a sucker hole in the clouds! Will try again tonight, for the closest approach event. Rick R.
