The East Valley Astronomy Club http://www.eastvalleyastronomy.org/ located in Gilbert and surrounding communities of the Phoenix area, was founded in 1987 and has more than 200 members. They currently host a monthly public star party near the Southeast Regional Library in Gilbert, southeast corner of Guadalupe and Greenfield Avenues. They support the Gilbert Rotary Centennial Observatory with a 16" telescope (in collaboration with the Riparian Institute) http://www.eastvalleyastronomy.org/grco/obs.asp Their observing projects page http://www.eastvalleyastronomy.org/observe.html is very nice, with links to 19 program pages. The observing pages have well typeset lists and observing forms, easy to download. Some of them are challenging projects, for example the Andromeda Galaxy Globular Cluster Observing Program http://www.eastvalleyastronomy.org/m31globs.html with 25 globulars in M31. The Arp Galaxy Observing Program http://www.eastvalleyastronomy.org/arps.html has 72 peculiars from Arp's 338 galaxy Atlas. The Edge-On Galaxies Observing Program includes 37 objects from a list compiled by Tom Polakis. http://www.eastvalleyastronomy.org/eog.htm Victor Herrrero member Tucson Amateur Astronomy Association http://hubbleed.bravehost.com/ ____________________________________________________________________________________ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo!
