Here's links to pictures from my Wednesday night session. I'm finally getting
things figured out to take pictures at F8 instead of the F2 Hyperstar I've been
using.
I was surprised the image scale was as large as it is. I've been spoiled to the
Hyperstar for a while, but the F8 image is only 30 one minute exposures. The
scope is a 16" RC. The Hyperstar image is 34 30 second exposures. This scope is
the C14. Both using a modified Canon camera. M27 is pretty easy to take, and
looks good visually also. I hope to improve when I get the guiding figured out.
And, I need to consider CCD imaging as well. Both pictures were sized for the
web, but they are not cropped.

In other news: We had a ring side seat at Alamo Lake State Park for the rocket
launch. The 114 folks that came out to the event were amazed as the rocket
zoomed into the sky. It was quite a surprise for the astronomers as well. I've
seen a Minuteman launch at Vandenberg from Clarkdale, but it was nothing like
Saturday night. Right after a large bolide-fireball crossed the northern sky.
