Jeff;

I am a little fuzzy, but is this the same weekend as the SAC 5 mile =
meadow
observing trip?

Steve

************************
INVITATION FROM DENNIS FEATHER AT BRAESIDE OBSERVATORY FOR THE 1ST =
ANNUAL

WEEKEND IN THE PINES BRAESIDE STAR PARTY

BRAESIDE UPDATE

Do you wish to attend this awesome Field Trip? Are you not a PAS=20
member? Don't fret, this is open to anyone who wishes to attend,=20
including SAC and EVAC members as well. Here is an update from=20
Dennis, our host. First off, he is getting married this Wednesday to=20
Rita, so if you want to send him an e-card, send to this address:=20
<mailto:dennis.feather@xxxxxxx>dennis.feather@xxxxxxxx You can also=20
send your RSVP's to that address as well. Or send them to me at=20
<mailto:Cosmicstarstuff@xxxxxxxxx>Cosmicstarstuff@xxxxxxxxxx I am=20
helping him coordinate this event.

Here is the scheduled plan, and he is flexible on all of this but=20
would like to know ahead of time what we have in mind. So, you will=20
need to RSVP with him or me, that you are attending this event.

RSVP with:

What time/day will you be arriving? You can approximate this. He just=20
wants to know if there will be anyone earlier or later than the=20
planned party times.
What time/day will you be departing?

Dennis said we can arrive anytime after 3pm on Friday. He'd like=20
everyone packed up and gone by Noon on Monday. So, what do we do in=20
the mean time?

=3D46ood =3D96 Totally up to those attending.
=3D46acilities =3D96 There is a bathroom on site in the building.
Camping =3D96 There is a 250 Foot Radius around the observatory that has =

been cleared of trees recently. He'd like it if those who are staying=20
in tents would please put your camping stuff along the tree line. The=20
logic of this is that you will want to set up telescopes away from=20
the tree lines to get the best views. You can pick anyplace you want=20
to to set up your camp.
Sleeping =3D96 you can also, if there is room, sleep in doors with your=20
own bedding/sleeping bags, on the floor. This isn't a huge facility.=20
Picture about the amount of space that we have our PAS Meetings in=20
the Library, as the amount of space indoors. Only the area where we=20
have the chairs in the library is the space you will have available=20
for sleeping. Remember, this is open to all clubs in Arizona, so=20
there may be more people sleeping indoors than you know.
Tour =3D96 Dennis might be generous enough to do two tours of the=20
facilities =3D96 one on Saturday and one on Sunday. It is very=20
interesting and very much worth your time while you are there. He=20
might even open the facilities up to letting us view through the=20
observatory while there. I don't know his exact plans but let's see=20
if we can't have some fun while there.
Sunday Brunch =3D96 Dennis said there is an awesome place to eat, cost =
is=20
about $4/person, a buffet, makes a great, cheap lunch in town that we=20
can consider attending Sunday around Noon. If this interests you,=20
RSVP that part with me. The rest of the weekend, food is up to the=20
attendee.

Szechuan Restaurant 1451 S. Milton Road Flagstaff, AZ 86001 (928) =
774.8039
Directions to Braeside: From in-town Flagstaff:
Go west on W. Highway 66 about 5 miles. See the "U.S. Naval=20
Observatory" highway sign. Turn north (right turn) and go under the=20
bridge (about 3/4 mile). See the small post sign with two stars and=20
an arrow. Turn there on the gravel road and follow the stars to=20
Braeside Observatory.
RSVP is required so that Dennis knows how many folks are joining the=20
party. Bring your scopes, your sleeping bags, some food to eat, and=20
let's have a party!
Everyone is invited. Tell your friends, tell the other clubs in town,=20
pass the word around. Dennis was going to contact EVAC and SAC and=20
didn't get time to with his upcoming wedding, so he asked me to fill=20
in for him. Let's make this an awesome event! He was talking about=20
making it a yearly event, too. See you there!
