Hello Colleagues, It's time to join AVAPL or renew your membership! I do hope you will consider being a part of this great organization. The information below will help guide you through the process. If you have any questions, please contact me. Thank you! AVAPL 2011 Membership Drive Please forward this message and invitation to the other psychologists at your station. Dear Fellow VA Psychologists: I am writing on behalf of the Association of VA Psychologist Leaders (AVAPL) to encourage you to join or renew your membership in AVAPL. AVAPL addresses the professional needs and concerns of ALL VA psychologists ---current leaders and aspiring leaders, practitioners, training staff, researchers, new career psychologists, and trainees. Membership is a wonderful way to learn new ideas and share information, support advocacy efforts that benefit VA psychologists and Veterans, and gain the support, expertise, and friendship of fellow VA psychologists across the country. Our expertise as an organization and our value as an advocate on behalf of the Veterans we serve have been recognized in a number of ways over the years, such as when AVAPL members have been asked to testify before the U.S. Congress, or during annual meetings between the AVAPL Executive Board members and key officials at VA Central Office. AVAPL wants you to have the opportunity to make an impact on the future of Psychology in the VA and the care we provide to Veterans. That can only happen when you join together with us as an interested and active member! Advantages of membership include: * Active members in good standing may vote, hold office, and participate in all business and scientific meetings of AVAPL. * Reduced registration fee for the annual VA Psychology Leadership Conference * Direct input to the Executive Committee to shape the agenda for the annual meeting with VA Central Office, APA, VSO, and other key leaders in Washington * Opportunity to get involved with AVAPL initiatives and committees (see list on application or go to www.avapl.org <http://www.avapl.org/> ). * Membership in a national network of VA psychologists providing collaboration and support. * Access to organizational listservs There are three categories for AVAPL membership: Active, Honorary, and Training Affiliate. * Active membership is available to existing psychologist leaders (e.g. patient care line or discipline service chiefs or assistant chiefs, section heads, division or program managers, those with VISN leadership positions, program or team leaders, directors of training, senior researchers, etc.) or those who aspire to be leaders within the VA system. * Honorary membership is available to former AVAPL members and others who have furthered the cause of VA psychology and Veteran's health care.
