Ensign Mehdi Idrys's sleep had begun to be haunted by recurring dreams
now as never before. He tossed and turned restlessly on the bed. He was alone,
and he needed ...
He'd been haunted, waking and sleeping, by her, ever since that chance
encounter in the brig, ever since having been with her and spent a night of
pure, unbridled passion. Her name sang sweetly into his mind.
Skyler.
All that mattered to him was her name, her self, her being, her presence,
her touch ... and the rest of the Universe didn't matter.
He didn't matter.
The ship didn't matter.
His career didn't matter.
Nothing mattered except for her.
He lived for her sake now.
Yes, by Trill, he knew she was part human and part Betazoid ... but she
might just as well have been an Elasian woman who'd wept and whose tears he had
attempted to dry as a gentlemanly gesture ... for he was enslaved to her.
Did he care? Absolutely not. Passion reigned in his heart and Skyler was
his heart's true mistress. He would protect her from whatever might threaten.
And at any and all costs, including himself.
Because, in the end, he knew he didn't matter.
Only Skyler did.
