The Helping Hands of Doctor and Counselor

by Doctor Andrew Brookman, Doctor Felicity Roan, and Counselor Caine Reilly
Mckinsely

Felicity was still reeling from her fleeting encounter with her brother, her
thoughts not all there. What was important now was to try and re-focus on the
matter at hand and what Dr. Brookman would have to say. She heard him say
enter, yet for a moment, she heard nothing, only silence in her brain.

Looking at Felicity for a moment, Caine wondered why the Doctor wasn't moving
forward into the room. Just as Caine was about to touch Felicity's arm, to
pull her out of her reverie, the Doctor moved on her own and walked through the
door. Wondering if everything was okay with her, Caine followed her in and
smiled at Brookman.

Andrew drew his attention away from the padd. He looked up and smiled as he saw
Doctor Roan and Counselor Mckinsely enter. Brookman got up from his seat and
went around the table, gesturing for them to have a seat.

"Doctor, Counselor. I hope you ladies are doing well?"

"Thank you Doctor, I am doing well today. How are you today?" Felicity tried
to make pleasantries with him.

Caine just nodded to Brookman and waited for him to begin. The women took their
seats.

Andrew smiled, "Im doing well. Just have a few things to clear up. Now that we
are all here," Brookman turned and got the padd he previous was working on.

"Well, let's get straight to business. I wouldn't want to keep you both from
your shore leave." Brookman looked at the two. "As you know, the Avalon has a
certain person on board with memories that could be very dangerous in the wrong
hands. The trouble with this is that while Elissabeth Marksbury has trouble
remembering her 'past'- so to speak- she still will retain almost or all her
memories. It could even affect her personality now.

"The procedure was to suppress her personality as Lyryn Cate, and with it any
memory that could be used by outsiders. Like the Tal Shiar, or the Order, or
anyone that thought she would be useful. The procedure, as you know Doctor from
the reports I forwarded to you, was unsuccessful. Her memories are coming back
to her, most likely confusing her at times. Though, she has been rather
resilient in her efforts to distinguish her life here and her past life."

Felicity truly felt for the young officer. She was too young to have been
tortured mentally for something that she had done by just existing not anything
that she had physically done. Felicity nodded somberly and waited for him to
continue.

Caine nodded, she knew everything about what was happening with Elissabeth. In
fact, Caine kept as good of tabs as she could on the woman.

Brookman got up from his seat, "What I'm asking for both of you is to observe
her. A regular update won't be necessary health wise, but I do need to know the
progression of her past memories- and how much she might remember."

"Yes sir," Caine said nodding. "As it is, I try to keep track of her, I worry
about what a person with her mental instability might do. But I will keep a
closer eye on her and invite her to my office and see what I can do there."

Felicity knew this would put the majority of the task on Caine. She would try
and assist the Counselor as best she could, but ultimately it was the fate of a
fellow crewman now in their hands...just as her brother's life had been in the
hands of Starfleet and look how they had let him down. They had to do better
for Marksbury...and Felicity wanted to make sure she assisted.

"Of course Doctor, I'd be happy to assist in this sensitive situation.
Ultimately Caine will shoulder much of the burden, but as I'm able to provide
help, I will. Thank you for the briefing on the matter."

Brookman smiled and nodded, "Thanks you, Doctor, Counselor." He turned and
walked back over to his desk, "Another thing. If there is anything drastic with
Marksbury, I need to know immediately in order to help. I'm sure I'm leaving
this mission with very capable hands, but I do have her as my patient also.
Starfleet Medical nor Intel would like me sitting back, and personally, neither
would I."

Nodding again, Caine turned to leave, first stopping to ask Felicity if they
could get together later to discus this situation.

Felicity smiled and offered to meet Caine just after they returned for leave as
she was meeting some friends for dinner this evening, but agreed having this
meeting soon would be best for all involved.
