Arrival on Avalon ? Part 4 Joseph Flubb, Captain Commanding Officer, USS Avalon And Caine Reilly McKinsely, Senior Lieutenant Counselor / Psychological Interrogation Specialist Caine had been back on the Avalon for only an hour when she began hearing rumors of a new captain. This news was highly disturbing and it bothered Caine to think that there might be someone new to lead the USS Avalon, the crew loved Keith Ketchum, they would have given their lives for that man and that thought that he was gone, without a word of goodbye, well, it just didn't sit right with Caine. So after she dropped Hannah off in their quarters, Caine slipped into her Star Fleet uniform and headed out into the corridors of the Avalon. It wasn't long before Caine stopped at the door to the captain's ready room. After taking a deep breath, to calm her nerves, she rang the door chime and waited to see her new captain. He sat looking over the crew manifest when the chime to the office rang. Keith Ketchum's crew was well placed, and very good in their duties. Hoping they would serve him just as well. "Enter." Taking another deep breath, Caine entered what had once been Commander Skyler?s office. A part of her had been hoping that she would see Skyler when the doors opened but instead, all she saw was an Antican. Slightly taken aback, Caine hoped that this new captain wouldn't notice her moment of surprise at seeing him. "Sir, I am Senior Lieutenant Caine Reilly McKinsely, the counselor on this ship. I have heard rumors that you are our new captain, so I came to investigate. May I come in?" she asked, as she stood in the doorway, awaiting a request to enter further. Looking up, "Enter, Senior Lieutenant, Good day." Standing, "Flubb, Captain, I am." It took a moment for Caine to process what the captain had said. His backward speech was going to be hard to adapt to and deep down, Caine knew she didn't want to adapt to it. But playing the good counselor, she stepped forward and shook Captain Flubb's hand. "It is nice to meet you sir," Caine said, with a smile on her face. "I am surprised to see you here though, where is Captain Ketchum?" "Lieutenant, Meet you, Is pleasure", Flubb shook her hand, "Ketchum, at Starbase 12, promoted, he is." "Oh, that is so wonderful for him," Caine said, while silently she still wondered why the Captain hadn't mentioned anything to anyone and left without a word. "Well sir, I have come here to discuss a pretty serious matter with you, if you have the time that is Captain." "Counselor, time for you, Have I." He wondered what she was so urgent to talk to him about. "Thank you sir," Caine nodded, taking the seat across the desk from him. "Captain Flubb, I am very worried about how the crew is going to handle this new change in captains. I mean, Keith left us without a word and then you suddenly appear as our Captain. I'm sorry if I speak to bluntly though sir," Caine said, taking a moment to slow down her mouth before she said something she would regret later. "I'm just worried about how this change will affect the crew sir. We have gone through so much recently and, well sir, what I really want to know, is how are you going to let the crew know about you? There are rumors flying all over this ship, and that is how I knew to come and look for you and not Ketchum." She felt as though she was babbling on but she wished to get across how worried she was about the change in captains and the effect it would have on the crew. "Shore Leave, when over, crew know, would let." Flubb knew that it would be hard taking over such an established command. He had read over Ketchum's record. "Difficult, know this be, I do." He looked at McKinsely, "You, help from, will need." Caine nodded, this new captain seemed like a decent fellow and she knew Star Fleet would never assign a bad captain to the USS Avalon. She decided, even though she and the rest of the crew would miss Captain Ketchum, that she would do everything in her power to assist Captain Flubb. "Of course sir, I am here to help you whenever you need it at whatever time." "Appreciate this, I do." Flubb nodded to McKinsely, "Requires, Til time, Dismissed." "Thank you," Caine said, standing and shaking his hand again. "It shall be a pleasure serving you sir." With that, Caine left the new captain of the Avalon and headed back to her quarters, making a note to herself to look up all the information she possibly could about Captain Flubb and his home planet. Flubb pulled up McKinsely's record and studied it carefully. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Friends. Fun. Try the all-new Yahoo! Messenger
