=/\= All The Comforts Of Home =/\= Kaera and Cam beamed aboard together, but from there they separated. Cam had to report to the quartermaster and then to the command staff for assignment. Kaera took her duffle and headed for her own quarters. On the way, she detoured to her office. It was just as she had left it. No messages -- of course, no one needed her services while the ship was on down time and most of the crew on leave. She ran a hand over the back of her chair, looking forward to spending many happy hours sitting in it while she researched and compiled. Then Kaera turned to go to her quarters. She wondered if her life would be much different with Cam on board, and that got her to thinking. Was he really in love with her, or only with the idea of her? How much could she trust her own feelings? Could a shore leave interlude become a meaningful relationship? Her door opened at her approach, and she went in and set her bag on the bed. Cam was a full Lieutenant; would he have a wider bed? She supposed she could ask for one, herself, but she had never needed a bed big enough for two and would feel embarrassed to put in the requisition. As she put away her belongings, the door chime sounded. Thinking it might be Cam, she called, "Enter." But it wasn't Cam, she discovered, turning at the noise of something large being brought through the doorway. It was a team of six enlisted crewmen lugging furniture. "Orders from Lt. Loyen, ma'am," said one, a fresh-faced young Trill. "He had a lot of stuff beamed aboard and about a third of it is for you." In an amazingly short time, Kaera's simple quarters had been transformed with a larger bed (complete with carved wooden headboard), two huge easy chairs, a sheepskin rug, and a magnificent wall hanging that might have been a genuine antique. The most incredible part was that it all fit perfectly, once the Starfleet-issue bed and sofa were removed. As the moving team departed, her terminal blinked with an incoming text message. "Replicate some candles and holders," the message said. "I'll bring dinner tonight. Love, Cam."
