Dear Think Tank members, I have now been able to research the question Anietie raised about AuthorAfrica being visible on the web. Here are my findings, and a question for everyone to answer. Meanwhile, again, please accept my profound apologies. If I had more full investigated the features on the freelists.org website, I would have known that our messages would be visible. Instead, in my haste, I failed to notice this important feature and thus may have inadvertently permitted private messages from myself and others to go out on the web. So, at this point, I humbly ask your opinion on what we should do next. First, yes, I was able to confirm that our messages have been posted on the web by freelists.org. I believe few would run across them, since key words are few, but anyone searching for AuthorAfrica would surely see us. Second, I have corresponded today with the portal administrator at freelists.org, and he has given me a method to password protect the archive. However, as a matter of policy, he recommends that we strongly consider not using a password. He feels that the mission of freelists.org is to make such discussions available to the public, and he suggests that we may have less control over technical aspects of the listserve if we do use a password. So I turn to you, the exclusive members of this archive, for a decision. Please let me know, via the archive or via personal email to me, whether you feel we should password protect the archive. if I do not hear from you, I will have to assume that we will continue to operate in the open. Again, my apologies to all. Thank you for your kind understanding, Bruce
