Hi All: FYI, mystery of the page number showing in Roman on the page but Arabic in the TOC solved. Formatting can be imposed on a page number through the Insert > Page Numbers dialog or with a switch in the field. The page number was displayed on the page according to its dialog formatting, but the TOC used the \* roman switch in the field (which was not meant to be there, mind).
