I'd be interested if anyone does have a solution.
The workaround is to use chapter numbering 1-1, 2-1 etc and then you can =
use RD fields to pull the TOC and the index together.
It also makes easier to publish as you do not have to wait for the =
preceding chapter to be finished before you print out the chapters.

Subject: atw: Word question: Automatic sequential page numbering across
multiple documents

hi all,

no doubt this has been asked before but is there a way of doing this
automatically or at least less manually then going to each document and
manually setting the start at page number field?

A,.doc - pages 1 - 21
B.doc - pages 22 - 24
C.doc - pages 25 - 30
<many documents later>
ZZ.doc pages 522- 530

thanks
