Do you mean templates or documents?
If they are templates you can lock down the styles in Word 2003 so that
the user can't change them.

Can anyone provide any suggestions on how to fix styles in Word 2003
Template documents?
I believe it is possible to code VBA to get the styles to revert back at
close/open of the document, if the styles are changed by the user in
anyway.
