Have been out most of the day, so just catching up on replies to my original request! But shutdown and restarting my PC seem to have cleared the problem. Which basically was, instead of calling the appropriate Heading styles when I pressed Ctrl+Alt+1, Ctrl+Alt+2, and Ctrl+Alt+3 I got i (I think) then superscript 2 and superscript 3 respectively Even after I re-assigned Ctrl+Alt+1, Ctrl+Alt+2, and Ctrl+Alt+3=20 back to Heading style 1, 2 and 3 in both my custom template and my Normal template, the key assignments would not call the Heading styles. Whassup? The style gallery route is designed for a blanket 'stylesheet' approach with documents. The organizer is better suited to xfer twixt templates and atomic copying. Shortcut keys - well, here is the problem in a nutshell. They are referenced from the KeyBindings collection. However, it is possible to have a global template (add-in) loaded with shortcuts that are alos defined in the doc template or Normal. Usually the local template overrides these but there are ways the add-in can avoid this. There are several places in the GUI where you can access the shortcut keys definitions from. This fits the usual work practices of people using those dialogs - they are all involved with key customisations. All access points ref the same collection, so it is irrelevant how you launch it. I am sure I havent answered the real question though - please be more explicit if so :-) -----Original Message----- From: austechwriter-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:austechwriter-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Silcock, Howard DR Sent: Wednesday, 15 June 2005 2:02 PM To: Austechwriter (austechwriter@xxxxxxxxxxxxx) Subject: atw: SEC: UNCLASS Re: Word 2003 - shortcut keys for Headings Hijacked Terry said: > Further to Howard's email, I've neveer really understood the multiple=20 > link arrangements for templates with the two places in the 'Templates=20 > and Add-ins' dialog and also via the Format(>Theme)>Style Gallery=20 > route, but I usually link to the same template in each location. Should we try Steve, our resident MVP, for further elucidation?? (Now your credibility's on the line, Steve!)
