By 'popup', do you mean in the style of 'tooltips'=3F Netscape Nav and
MSIE show the ALT text in an image in this way. So if you use the method
of breaking your image up into sub-images which you assemble in a table,
with a hyperlink for each, this should give you your solution. (I don't
know how AuthorIT handles things. You say imagemaps are created as
separate files -- If they use ISMAP or some sort of scripting then the
above may not help.)
