What screen-reader are you using? You need to set the screen-reader to use
only a specific sound card, no matter what the computer is using as the default
sound card.
When you connect a USB device such as a turntable for recording, Windows
considers it to be the default sound card until it is disconnected. then, the
previously used sound card becomes the default again. Any USB device that
Windows considers a sound card, including, of course, a USB sound card, becomes
the default when connected. There are specific procedures in screen-reader
settings, to cause the screen-reader to always use a specified sound card. So
we need to know what screen-reader you are using.
