The closer the vocal or vocals are to the center, the more audio of the vocals can be removed. If the vocals are the only audio in the center and if other audio is all far to the left or right, then you can remove a lot of the vocal audio and not much of the other audio. But the closer other audio is to the center, the more of it will be removed.
