Hi Larry,
with respect to when to naming the tracks, it's just a question of which
you find more convenient.
You can open the context menu of the focused track by pressing either the
application key or shift + M. The track does not have to be selected.

Hi Larry and Steve,
when using Export multiple, it doesn't matter whether the tracks are
selected or not.
The only export command where is does matter is the command "export
selected audio".

and do the select all command after naming all the tracks. In the Metadata
editor only fill the fields that you want filled on all tracks. The track
names a track number will go in automatically when the export multiple is
run. After filling the fields in the editor I just tab through all the
options to the OK button Then I go to the Export multiple. That’s when all
tracks must be selected. When I do a record album I do one side at a time
so when I export side two I change the track number in the editor during
the exporting process. Hope this helps.

It sounds like you’re doing everything right on the Audacity side. I name
the tracks in the main window and put in the Metadata info for the common
items in the Metadata editor in the File menue. When exporting multiple I
send the new files to a folder I call Temp Tunes. In the export process I
scan through the Metadata for each track and when satisfied hit Enter for
each track. When exporting is done I go to the Temp Tunes folder and
number each track then cut and paste them all into a new folder with the
album’s name. Then I make another folder of the artist’s name, paste the
new album into it and paste it into my music library. Once there I have
no problem burning them to CD’s using Windows Media Player. The only
thing I use I tunes for is to get music to my phone and that’s always a
challenge in itself Good luck.

I seem to be having trouble here. I followed the steps in part 4 of the
audacity tutorial on the TC site and got my 1-track cassette rip broken
into nine tracks. I need some advise on how to best get these tracks
labeled and tagged so they will play on a player or burn to cd. I tried
naming them from within the audacity main window but that didn’t seem to
work when I multiply exported them to a folder and tried importing them
into itunes to burn. I tried twice using the tagger in audacity both with
labels added in the main window and by adding the labels in the tagger with
no success. I’d appreciate any suggestions anyone has to offer.
