Hi John
Every time I use autoduck I have to remind myself of the layout of tracks. I
will start by describing autodocking with two tracks. For the example I will
assume that one track contains music and the other contains speech.
1. Your music track needs to be selected and needs to be the first or top
track.
2. Your vocal track needs to be unselected (select and unselect with the
Enter key).
3. Select the area of the music track that coincides with the audio on the
vocal track or simply select all of the music track.
4. Apply autoduck.
5. Congratulate yourself.
If you have more than one music track that you want to duck, it also needs to
be selected. The vocal (called the control track) must be unselected and must
be below the other tracks.
As you probably found, you can adjust the amount of ducking. If you do not
like the default setting, simply undo with control+z and adjust until happy.
An important facility is the movement of tracks up and down. To move a track,
arrow to it and press the Application key. Arrow down until you find the
option you want.
If any of the above is not clear, I (and I am sure others) am more than happy
to clarify.
Just a quick clarification about Reaper. There is not a free version of
Reaper. There is a trial version which functions without restrictions. To use
it effectively with a screen reader, the OSARA plugin must be installed.
Reaper is then more powerful than Audacity, but the learning curve is greater.

Subject: [audacity4blind] adding auto duck effect
dear audacity,
I'm a Blind Filipino. I'm a new user of audacity, and I have installed version
3.1 in my windows PC.
I need to ask how to add auto duck on my recorded audio track? I'm trying to
select all tracks with the background music then going to effects then pressing
the auto duck button but I always get prompted that the file needs a clip.
hope you can help me with the step by step navigation, I'm planning to create a
video blog content in Filipino so that my visually impaired countrymen,
especially those beginners with audacity digital audio editor, will benefit and
be active users of this application instead of reaper and goldwave apps that
only offers limited features for their free versions.
thanks in advance.
your Filipino Blind follower,
john phillip
