The recording meter in Audacity 2.1.0 is more accessible than in previous version, and screen readers can now read the peak level that occurred during a monitoring session. More details are given in my Jaws guide: In the recording section, there's a sub section on adjusting the recording level. This is a link to this section: http://vip.chowo.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/jaws/Audacity-2.1.0-Guide.html#adjusting-the-recording-level Note that if you're using Window-eyes, this may not fully work. I tested Window-eyes 9 on windows 8.1 and choosing start monitoring on the record meter drop down menu caused window-eyes to get lost somewhere. I think this is a window-eyes problem rather than an Audacity problem. David.
