Shift plus S is a toggle which will solo or unsolo the track you are focused on. Thus, the vocal track, in this case, will be solload, and the music track will be muted. Pressing shift plus S once again should reverse this and both tracks be heard. If this is not the case, you can unmute all tracks, but I cannot remember the exact shortcut key combination, and I am not at my computer yet this morning. However, you can find it under the tracks pull down menu by pressing alt plus T and then down arrow going through the menu options and finding the mute unmute  Flap. This should help you sort things out.

Hi Ted and all,

Thanks for your response. Yes, Shift + S mutes the music and leaves me with my vocal. But, when music is unmuted, the vocal gets muted. How do I unmute both and play together again?

To edit your vocal tracks, first, make sure the track is selected, and the contents within that track are surrounded by your left and right brackets or markers. This will allow you to edit the vocal track. To hear the vocal track by itself, use the shortcut keys shift plus S to solo that track which also mute every other track.

Hello all,

After recording vocal with the music track, I want to edit my vocal before mixing with the track. So, in order to do that, I need to play and ehar my vocal separately without the music track. How do I play and hear my vocal only for editing?

Another question is that, can I switch off and on the recording mode in between, while recording my vocal with the music track? Instead of keeping the recording mode on till the end, I want to turn off while the music track still plays on. If I press the space bar, the recording and the music track stop altogether. Kindly help me with these two issues.
