Hi Robbie,
Personally, I don’t use an IDE. I stick to plain old Notepad (Well actually,
Notepad2 – slightly different as that does offer some helpful programming
features such as indentation, brace/quote matching etc), and MinGW. Granted,
invoking a compiler from the command line can seem very daunting at first, but
you could write yourself a batch file for that then you won’t need to worry
about it.
Besides, with command line, more often than not you won’t even need to worry
about how accessible it is.
Hope this helps.
Damien.

Subject: [audacity4blind] Question for blind developers
Hi!
I’m beginning to teach myself C++, with the goal of one day contributing to
Audacity. I’d like to know which accessible IDE and compilers for Windows
people can recommend. My programming experience is limited to VBA and PHP so
far, so I suppose this will be a steep learning curve. Any helpful pointers for
a beginner are most welcome. I’m aware that there is a developers’ mailing
list, but I expect most of its traffic will be way over my head as yet. I’ll
join when I can make sense of it all. Well, some of it at least.
Thanks! Robbie
