I forwarded this message back to Anna but have not heard anything as yet upon
her receipt. I will try to get in touch with her somewhere tomorrow, Saturday.

Hi Ted
A couple of shots in the dark. Am I right in assuming that she has recorded
a track of music and wants to record a second track? If so, I suggest the
following two checks:
Check that the host is Direct Sound or, safer still, MME.
Under Devices in Preferences check that buffer size is at the default of 100.
Would need more info regarding computer and sound device before guessing
further.
If your friend is interested, I can call most places in the world without
cost and can fit in with most time zones.

Subject: [audacity4blind] Playback normal, recording either no play through
or has break up
Good morning Audacity list!
A friend has just posed a question to me for which I cannot come up with a
solution. I have copied a portion of her email below.
Hi Ted, how are you? what do you think is goin
on when in audacity I press the spacebar and the music plays well, and
when I press r to record the music breaks up or hardly plays at all?
She does not have very much experience with audacity to start, but I cannot
figure out why it is behaving in this manner. She lives in a different
country than the United States so it is difficult for me to speak with her
over the phone and listen to how her computer behaves. I suppose we could do
some thing through zoom or Skype, perhaps, bu but have not had an opportunity
to do that yet. I am hoping that Andrew, David or someone can solution this
out to appoint for me. I will be out of pocket for much of the day today, but
will be back in front of my computer Friday. I look forward to hearing back.
Reply to the list or to me personally.
Thank you,
