Teah that might work as well. i might also do that when I have to archive my 
tapes this summer.

I was just thinking - until there's an accessible way of moving from
location to location in a track, you could instead record one section of
tape at a time and save as separate files such as 001french.mp3,
002french.mp3, etc. You do need to install the lame mp3 encoder in order
to be able to save in mp3, if you haven't already done so.
