Here's the toolset I use for such tasks.

Those are all Nyquist plug-ins.
They use their own text-to-speech mechanism, thus, you need at least
one of the two wav files in the plug-in folder (tts-suite.wav or
tts-suite-fast.wav).
After that you can add the tools you want, in your case, tts-start,
tts-end and tts-length.ny.
With all that in the plug-in folder, you have two more steps to do:
1. restart Audacity, go to add/remove plugins under effects/generate
or analyze (doesn't matter) and enable them (those beginning with
tts-)
Depending on which ones you've chosen, they either appear in the tools
or the analyze menu, but now the names all begin with "Report", e.g.
"Report Start".
2. Assign hotkeys to them. It's easiest done if you move to the entry
in the menu and press Shift+Enter. This brings you directly to the
keyboard section in preferences with the command already selected.
I use for instance Alt+J/K/L respectively for start, end and length.
But bear in mind that those shortcuts are already assigned and you
have to decide if you use them on a daily basis.
The times are all spoken in hours, minutes, seconds and milliseconds.
All unnecessary zeros are stripped off, you could for instance have
"one hour, 23 milliseconds".
You might want to enable some of the other tools as well.
For my part, I couldn't for instance live without true peak and rms.
I'm still hoping that Andrew makes a review/tutorial on them...

So there aren’t any shortcut keys in NVDA to give the audio position?
Just wanted to verify… I couldn’t find any.
The issue I have with needing to press left bracket is that the leading
zero’s are announced and a press of the escape key is needed to dismiss the
audio position dialog
Also, pressing control+f6 then tabbing to the audio position field takes
many keystrokes. Then, if you want to get back into the track view the
quickest way is to press another keystroke (control+shift+f6).
It’s pretty handy to have shortcut keys like the JAWS scriptset provides. It
would be great to see someone tackle the NVDA scripting to provide similar
keystrokes. Do I see any volunteers? *smile*

For the following, the version of Audacity does not matter. Nor does it
matter which screen reader you are using.
As David said, press the End key to go to the end of the project. Press the
left square bracket key (the one to the right of the p). That will give you
the position. The time can be adjusted but, for finding the current
position you can then press Escape.
If you want to keep track of the time while recording or playing:
Press control-f6 and tab (or shift-tab) to Audio Position. The screen
reader will announce the time repeatedly when recording or playing. Tab
away when you have heard enough time calls.

Sure. What version of Audacity are you using? Also, do you use a screen
reader? If so, which screen reader?
If you are using JAWS, the latest JAWS for Audacity scriptset

(6-21-2020), and the latest Audacity (2.4.2), you can press alt+delete to
tell you the current position in an Audacity project.
Pressing ‘end’ will take you to the end of the audio in a project so, after
that, press alt+delete and you’ll hear the time position of the end of all
the audio in the project.
Another option, assuming you might be interested in the length of a specific
track, is to navigate to the track and press the letter ‘k’ to jump to the
end of the audio on that specific track. At that point you can press
alt+delete to hear the audio position at the end of that specific track.
If you aren’t using the JAWS scriptset then I’m not certain if there is a
shortcut. The easiest way I can think of is to press control+f6 and then tab
to the audio position field.
