Subject: [audacity4blind] Re: Hello I am so new here!
Hi I still use jaws find it faster than nvda although I have both on this
computer. and no we do not have to pay for tandem itself. We pay for Jaws in
full however. I haven't been to the freedom site for a long time know it has
another name which I seldom remembver, but as little as two days ago my friend
and I were on tandem and did fine.
She often fixes stuff for me or shows me how to use things. But, in this case
she was unable to figure how Audacity works, so I am still in the darkness
about this although read some of the manual that I found online. Even though I
have read that manual it's so complicated I don't get it. Not stupid I assure
you but not as savvy about computers as I should be because I have never had
formal education on Jaws or anything else with computers. It's only through
friends I know how to mail stuff, copy stuff, and getting things from the NLS
library. etc. so I learn bits from everybody else who understands this stuff
better than I do. I tried signin to skype on my ipad but I forget my password,
and cannot access. I tried the workarounds but still no dice. Need help with
this too. everything, so I often feel quite dumb regarding technical stuff
although I do enjoy researdching on the web and quite good at this by now. I
acquired my computer first one, in 2007 that was Microsoft based, although
eighties I did have an Apple 2e as many did. I had to sell it all off when I
had a very bad health crisis had to give up my home, and job at once. And have
been homeless five times and survived it all. But still need education a lot
on computer things. Thanks for writing. KB

Hi Karen
You and Ted can decide on the most effective tool(s) for your lessons.
From my perspective though, options such as Skype and Zoom are very useful.
Subject to audio equipment, Tandem is not essential. My understanding
as one who no longer uses JAWS, is that JAWS Home does not include
tandem without paying extra.
Others on this List can give you links to material on using Audacity
with JAWS (this slacko has not retained it). Last year I recorded an
audio introduction, which some have found helpful. You can download
it from https://www.sendspace.com/pro/dl/v56cn4. I also strongly ;
recommend checking out the Audacity user manual. It is available from
the Help Menu once you have installed Audacity.

Subject: [audacity4blind] Hello I am so new here!
Here's my story. I am an older lady looking for help for this program.
My friend who is computer savvy but not music savvy tried to help
when six months ago I downloaded the program. We have deleted it and
need help with install as well as use if anyone is so generous to
donate time to teach me how to use this program. I am anxious to use
it to record songs because I have been a musician for fifty years.
But I come from a time when the only use of recording items was long
ago when reel-to-reel tapes was used in a studio my friend owned.
This was way back there before the internet too, before anyone had a
computer in the house at all. I do therefore understand how tracks
work and other items that makes recordings sound nice. I just need
help understanding how to manipulate the jaws and how this whole
thing works. If you have time, please write back and tell me and we
can make mutual arrangements. I would really appreciate help. I have
had a computer since 2007, running windows ten, and hope this works
with that, and also have Jaws 18 home edition. Thanks for listening.
