Hi Justina
The good news is that there need not be a gap between the two files. I would
prefer to use Insert from the File Menu rather than Open, assuming the files
are wav or mp3 and not an Audacity project. For now though, I will use your
approach. As you will see, your method is very close to working.
Open the first file with control+o. Press k to put the cursor at the end of
that file. Then open the second file with control+o. That gives you two
copies of Audacity. Use control+c to copy that file. Then use alt+tab to get
back to your first copy of Audacity and press control+v.
That will put the second file on the same track as the first one and there will
be no gap unless there is silence at the end of the first file and/or at the
beginning of the second file.
Does that work for you?
Andrew

Subject: [audacity4blind] About merging files
Hello,
I have a question about merging files:
when I join two files, there is a long gap between them, am I doing something
wrong or, it must be like this, I join the files as follows:
after entering with enter in audacity, I press control o and there I look for
the file I want to join, after finding it on it, I press enter to load it with
the second interesting file I do the same now the file I want to join first I
mark it with enter then I mark it with control and then I copy it with the
shortcut control c and the shortcut control v I paste it into the second file I
just want to emphasize one thing:
when I attach a smaller file to a larger one, the two files will merge without
any problem, only there is a big gap between them, and when I want to attach a
larger file to a smaller file, there are complications, because then these two
files will either not merge at all, or they will join in a strange way, because
when I turn on this file for playback after combining these two files, I can
hear both files at the same time, i.e. one of them breaks through what is it
all about.
Regards.
