One more thing that might be useful, the bugreport for modemmanager with some
more technical discussion:

Jesse Vincent, of Keyboardio, shows up in the thread, and it sounds like they
had the Keyboardio firmware explicitly blacklisted by modemmanager. It may be
possible to do the same for Atreus.
