Dear Community Members,
Please see the note below, courtesy of Faez Ahmed, regarding JMD's upcoming
webinar schedule.
---------------------------
Dear Colleagues:
We would like to invite you to attend the first thematic session of the JMD
Webinar, to be held on February 16, 2021, Tuesday, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm EST (US
Eastern Standard Time).
The JMD Webinar is a series of webinars organized quarterly by the editorial
board of the Journal of Mechanical Design (JMD), serving the engineering design
research community. Our intention is to share the latest research and
development being published in the Journal of Mechanical Design, and by doing
so, to keep our community connected. Each JMD webinar will include two
sessions: (1) a 90-minute Zoom webinar session in which 4-5 selected papers
will be featured with presentations and Q&As, and (2) an optional 30-minute
gather.town session for further discussion/networking among speakers and
seminar attendees. For more information about the JMD Webinar, please visit the

The very first thematic session of the JMD Webinar, focusing on the
"Data-driven Approaches for Engineering Design," will feature the following
five talks:
1. Dr. Namwoo Kang: Oh, S., Jung, Y., Kim, S., Lee, I., and Kang, N. "Deep
Generative Design: Integration of Topology Optimization and Generative Models."
J. Mech. Des. 2019; 141(11): 111405.
2. Dr. Conrad Tucker: Shu, D., Cunningham, J., Stump, G., Miller, S. W.,
Yukish, M. A., Simpson, T. W., and Tucker, C. S. "3D Design Using Generative
Adversarial Networks and Physics-Based Validation." ASME. J. Mech. Des. July
2020; 142(7): 071701.
3. Dr. Soumalya Sarkar: Sarkar, S., Mondal, S., Joly, M., Lynch, M. E.,
Bopardikar, S. D., Acharya, R., and Perdikaris, P. "Multifidelity and
Multiscale Bayesian Framework for High-Dimensional Engineering Design and
Calibration." J. Mech. Des. 2019; 141(12): 121001.
4. Dr. Yan Wang: Liu, D., and Wang, Y. "Multi-Fidelity Physics-Constrained
Neural Network and Its Application in Materials Modeling." J. Mech. Des. 2019;
