My apologies but I realized that Doug’s age was actually just over 92 years
old. He was born on August 1, 1929, in Chicago.
I should know that because when I was working with him in the mid 1970’s he
was in his mid 50s and very conscious of it: all his male relatives had
died from heart attacks in their 50’s and he was determined that this
should not happen to him. This is in part why he was biking up the Old La
Honda road collecting trash for years. Here is Doug in that role:
