Based on the request and vote of the community at the 2017 DTM technical
committee meeting, we are moving to online nominations and elections for our
technical committee and conference leadership elections. The call for
nominations is now open. Please submit nominations to Kate Fu at

Election Process
Nominations will be made via email to kfu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
<mailto:kfu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> by August 15, 2018. Nominators should include a
short justification for their nomination. Self nominations are allowed and
encouraged.
Once nominations are received, the nominee will be contacted to indicate
whether they accept their nomination. If accepted, they will be placed on
the electronic ballot. If declined or unresponsive by the close of the
nomination period (August 15, 2018), they will not be placed on the
electronic ballot. A final inquiry will be sent to each nominee confirming
their desire to be on the ballot with the other nominees at the close of the
nomination period.
At the DTM technical committee meeting, each nominee will be given 2-3
minutes to speak. Those who are not able to be present physically may
submit a 150 word statement to be read aloud, or virtually connect to the
room. Each nominee will provide a 150 word statement to be included on/with
the ballot.
Online voting will open at the DTM technical committee meeting on Tuesday,
August 28, 2018, and will remain open for one week until Tuesday, September
4, 2018. Those community members who are not able to be physically present
may still vote in the election. Instructions for online voting via
SimplyVoting.com <http://simplyvoting.com/> will be sent in a separate
follow up email.

Responsibilities
Manage the community’s email listserv, distributing announcements
Distribute meeting minutes from last year’s annual technical committee
meeting for review and approval
Take meeting minutes at the annual technical committee meeting at IDETC
Manage the ASME DTM website, updating current leadership, archiving DTM
awards, proceedings and photos
Collaboration with chair and vice chair on new and ongoing initiatives
The Vice Chair is responsible for managing the budget of the DTM Technical
Committee, as well as assisting the Chair with any tasks necessary; The
Chair is responsible for running the Technical Committee meeting, presenting
data on the conference for that year, new and old business, and running the
nomination and election of new DTM leadership members.
Term Length
October 2018-October 2019
This position is a three year commitment. Each secretary moves to vice
chair the following year, and chair in their third year of service.
Eligibility
Academics, government lab researchers and industry professionals in full
time, permanent positions are eligible to serve.
Any active DTM member can be nominated and serve in this position. An
active DTM member is someone who has published a paper in DTM and attended a
committee meeting within the past 3 years.
Students and postdocs are not eligible to serve in this position.
DTM Program Chair
Responsibilities
Create and distribute call for papers to DTM community
Solicit volunteers for review coordinators (RCs)
Collaborate with Conference Chair to:
Determine sessions/topics for conference
Assign papers to sessions, assign sessions to teams of RCs
Manage paper review process and acceptance/rejection/revision of draft/final
papers
Create conference program schedule and assign session chairs/moderators
Assemble the best paper committee, and selecting the awardee for the best
paper award
The Conference Chair is responsible for collaborating with the Program Chair
on the tasks above. The Program Chair will take the lead on the majority of
tasks.
Term Length
The incoming Program Chair for October 2018-October 2019 is Dr. Scarlett
Miller.
This nomination and election are for the following term, from October
2019-October 2020.
This position is a two year commitment. Each program chair moves to
conference chair in their second year of service.

Nominees must hold a rank of Associate Professor or equivalent professional
rank; Academics, government lab researchers and industry professionals in
full time, permanent positions are also eligible to serve.
Any active DTM member who is a faculty member that has earned tenure may
serve in this position. An active DTM member is someone who has published a
paper in DTM and attended a committee meeting within the past 3 years.
Nominees must have served as a review coordinator, session chair, and
reviewer for DTM in the past.
Students and postdocs are not eligible to serve in this position.
