for applications for a new BPart fellowship program for IDETC.

The Broadening Participation (BPart) Committee of the Design Engineering
Division (DED) presents:
The BPart Fellowship & Mentorship Program
This new program is designed to uplift early career graduate students who are
members of underrepresented groups within the DED (e.g., women, black and
Latinx individuals, transgender individuals, and people with disabilities). The
goal of this fellowship program is to create support systems (mentorship and
financial) that enable graduate students who are not part of the dominant group
in engineering to find in-roads and connections with the design engineering
research community.
Fellows in this program will:
⭐ Receive a travel scholarship ($2000) to attend the 2022 International Design
Engineering Technical Conferences (IDETC).
⭐ Present a research proposal at a poster session co-organized with the Design
Theory and Methodology Technical Committee for early-career graduate students.
⭐ Be guests of honors at an exclusive reception for BPart fellows to form
community and to connect with senior researchers and mentors.
⭐ Participate in on-going mentorship activities with mentors from the DED
community throughout the academic year to help navigate academia and grow their
careers.
Prospective fellows should submit their CV and a one-page Statement of Purpose
describing their research goals and motivation for applying for the fellowship
to the committee for consideration by May 31, 2022. Send all materials and
