[Apologies for cross-posting]
Dear ASIALEX members and friends,
In early March, we made the difficult decision to postpone ASIALEX2020 in
Yogyakarta to late October this year in the hope that the COVID-19 situation
would improve substantially by then.
However, the pandemic situation continues to be highly fluid with its recent
resurgence in various countries and continuing air travel restrictions in many
areas of Asia and the world. Thus, if the situation persists or worsens in
October, it would be unconscionable to continue holding the conference then.
After deliberating the situation, the ASIALEX Board has now resolved to cancel
ASIALEX2020 in the best health interests of participants.
Nonetheless, we are pleased to say that the Yogyakarta organisers, and Dr Dora
Amalia in particular, are willing to host ASIALEX2021 with dates
provisionally set for June 5-7, 2021.
We apologise to the scheduled plenary speakers, potential participants and
friends who were so looking forward to visiting beautiful and historic
Yogyakarta in October.
Stay safe and keep well, everyone. We look forward to seeing you in Yogyakarta
next year.
Best regards,
Ai Inoue, PhD.
