From one of your fellow members:
There will be a scientific symposium on phenotypic drug discovery (PDD) at the
New York Academy of Sciences: "Phenotypic & biomarker-based drug discovery
symposium" - Oct, 27th, NYC.
The aim of the symposium is to share PDD knowledge across the entire scientific
community: Pharma & Academia.
The symposium (purely scientific, no vendors present) is becoming every day
more interesting and a probably a unique scientific moment for the PDD
community, with:
• PDD stories from big Pharma on how critically PDD is handled in different
companies (many industrial speakers from major pharmas)
• FDA point of view on PDD followed by panel discussion. It's surprising
different...(Robert Temple, head FDA clinical studies)
• How to tackle and face targetID/validation (from proteomics down to
functional genomics (lead speaker: Giulio Superti Furga)
• A success story in PDD: The Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) projects from Roche
and Novartis (Phase II) with a back to back presentation
• Major Academic scientific institution present
• Space for more ideas with available 40 poster slots to share even more over a
long lunch/poster session where people will discuss, interact and network
The hope is that interested scientists will join the meeting, present their
work in the form of a poster and contribute to a lively discussion.
