Grants are available to non-UK applicants, but the team must include a UK scientist. The NC3Rs is seeking high-quality research proposals to address genuine technological challenges in preclinical imaging. This strategic call for funding supports the development of preclinical imaging to advance the 3Rs in the areas of: Tracking cell fate and distribution 3D gene expression profiling Imaging bioengineered tissues Molecular imaging of biodistribution Improving sensitivity and resolution Phenotyping genetically modified mice A total budget of up to £1M is available for high quality and innovative applications. The strategic call follows a workshop, co-hosted with the Technology Strategy Board-funded Electronics, Sensors and Photonics Knowledge Transfer Network (ESP KTN) to bring together the preclinical imaging community with technology developers/manufacturers and other researchers from across sectors and disciplines. The workshop provided an open forum for dialogue and information exchange between these groups to identify opportunities to address these challenges. The funding call is designed to support the research and development ideas coming from the workshop.
